HERITAGE PARK OPEN DAY OCTOBER 2009
 

It is with great excitement that I am able to report on the success of our group to date.
Our last Open Day was held in October 2009 and once again it was wonderful to see so many old and new faces visit our park. The buzz of laughter and remembering of old times was heartening to hear and to see old and new friends enjoy the afternoon.
It was a special day for the Holroyd family and it was wonderful to see so many of their descendants arrive on the day to pay tribute to the early settlement of the district by this family.  The memorial display was a tribute to all those who took part in bringing the display together and even more exciting to have the photographic display of the war medals of George and Ernie Holroyd.
The website has been a remarkable tool and is enjoyed by many people scattered across the globe.  The letters and comments that we receive from the public are encouraging and more and more information and photographs seem to come from every corner. 
It was indeed a pleasure to have been able to direct a previous resident to take a nostalgic journey to the bocce pitch which he had visited as a boy and remembered the train running along the other side of the valley.  His lovely letter that we received thanking us for giving him such a happy re-visit was satisfaction enough for the work we all put into the park.
We have received a lovely tribute from the Armadale Shire congratulating us on our efforts.  Still waiting for a comment from our own Shire – but that’s another story.
Many thanks again to the committee for their endless work and supply of cakes and scones for the afternoon tea and sausage sizzle.
We look forward to seeing you on the 2nd of May 2010 and all the help is welcomed.
